The Environment
Here at Garrett Tire and Auto Center, we are as concerned about the environment and climate change as you are. We all must work together and individually to make a positive difference in the face of one of the greatest challenges we will face collectively as human beings.
Our Part
Recycling/Disposal
We have started a comprehensive recycling program here at the store. We have been able to reduce our waste stream by at least 50% and are striving for even more. We have contracted with several hazardous waste companies to dispose of our used oil/oil filters and waste tires properly.
Getting the Lead Out
We are voluntarily making the transition to using zinc and/or steel wheel balancing weights from lead weights. We have contacted the EPA in regards to joing the National Lead Free Wheel Weight Initiative. For more information please visit http://www.epa.gov/osw/hazard/wastemin/nlfwwi.htm. Although zinc and steel weights are roughly 50% more expensive, we feel that "Getting the Lead Out" is the right thing to do.
Your Part
Regular maintenance for your vehicle will increase your vehicles fuel mileage and decrease your vehicles emissions.
Tire Pressure: Just a 1 psi drop in air pressure will decrease your fuel mileage by .4%. Check your air pressure monthly.
Air Filters: Replacing a dirty air filter can increase your fuel mileage by as much as 10%. Air filters typically need changed about every 10000 miles.
TerraClean: Removing carbon deposits from your engine will increase horsepower and fuel mileage while also decreasing vehicle emissions. Go to http://www.terraclean.net/ to learn more.
